Project Common Ground

Bringing the best of ancient culture forward
to meet the best of current culture

Aloha

Aloha! We'd like to share with you what we feel is an idea whose time has come. Attached you'll find a plan and proposal that represents the combined input of many island residents. It's a proposal of sustainability and cooperation. It draws a sketch of what could become a whole new way of life, if enough people of vision and insight are willing to participate.

This proposal is offered as a gift to Kauai and all its diverse residents, from every spectrum of the rainbow. It's the result of a few years of deeply listening and interviewing people who live here. We've done our best to create a design that's good for everyone. We feel it's a shared dream and a map to help us find our way through a convoluted world to a more harmonious village life, where everyone is honored for who they are. It's a map to help us find our way to the abundant world of self-sufficiency. And it's only the beginning.

There are a lot of blanks yet to be filled in, and that's where you come in. As you read this proposal, you may become inspired about what special ingredient you have to add to this stone soup. Maybe you're a kapuna or expert in some field, and would like to participate on a council? Maybe you're a teacher or a farmer or have special communication skills? Perhaps you're an architect and know about bamboo construction or alternative energy design? Maybe you can contribute funding? Help raise money? Offer legal assistance? Do research?

The point is this: by its own definition, for this dream to become real, Project Common Ground needs many hands.it takes a village to make a village! We believe everyone and everything that's needed to manifest this dream is close at hand. We just need to trust, and step forward with conviction.

There's a variety of ways you can show your support. Write or email us to share your thoughts, input or desire to participate. Add your name to the attached petition of support. Make a tax-deductible donation. Say a prayer.

Mahalo, friends and neighbors, and many blessings to you. May your next millennium be a joyous one!
